What’s the difference between coaching and counselling?

Counselling addresses and resolves any negative thinking patterns, emotional difficulties, or ingrained behavioural problems from the past that prevent taking the actions required to move forward.

The main focus with Coaching is getting you ‘unstuck’ by taking effective action to reach specific personal and or professional life goals. Life Skills Coaching is based on Communication and Problem Solving.

Some common reasons that bring people to my office:

  • Feeling stuck personally or professionally and don’t know how to get unstuck
  • Struggling trying to create work/life balance
  • Looking for new career opportunities – Stuck in a dead-end job and you stay where you are – because you don’t know what else to do
  • Want career advancement, but lack the confidence needed to show up as a leader
  • Stressed over personal and/or workplace conflict and want to learn more effective communication skills
  • Want more for yourself but lack the self-confidence to do what it takes to get what you want

Keeping yourself stuck can leave you feeling angry and resentful. The longer you stay stuck the worse you feel about yourself and your life. You have one shot at life and it is short so don’t waste another minute feeling this way
